An islander faces a spell in prison unless he carries out a community payback order imposed by a court.

Andrew Macdougall of 24 Calvay, Lochboisdale, was previously sentenced to unpaid community service work for making nuisance calls.

The 48-year-old also awaits to be sentenced for a another similar offence.

At Lochmaddy Sheriff Court, lawyer Ken Macdonald urged sheriff Chris Dickson to give him four more weeks, saying his client accepted he will "go to jail if he doesn't get a grip of himself."

The sheriff highlighted the social worker's report made "grim reading."

"They don't know if one more month would make any difference," he said.

However, Macdougall was allowed more time to improve.
