A man who has been sentenced to 60 days in jail will have to serve any time.

Martin John Greenshields, 36, of 27 Kenneth Street, Stornoway, retained his freedom because he had already spent the equivalent time in custody awaiting his court appearance.

Greenshields pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour at an address in the Cearns in Feburary.

He had been previously released on bail after he promised not to pledged not go near the house or its tenant.

But he accepted he breached bail twice - including one time by banging on the door and shouting outside the house.

Sheriff Derek Livingston backdated his prison sentence to 13 April.

With good behaviour, an early release from a two and a half month sentence is five weeks, so Greenshields was freed after his court appearance.
