Island choirs shine in Inverness       17/10/14

 

Island choirs got their turn to shine yesterday at this year’s Mod in Inverness.

 

Lochs Gaelic Choir scooped a raft of trophies after winning the rural Puirt-a-Beul competition. In addition to the Allan MacKenzie Memorial Trophy, they were awarded the Evelyn Huckbody Memorial Trophy for highest marks in Music, the Calum Robertson Memorial Trophy for highest marks in Gaelic.

 

Choir conductor, Ronald Murray, was awarded the John Young Memorial Baton.

 

The ladies of Coisir Sgir a’Bhac (Back Choir) bring home the Grampian Television Trophy and the Angus MacTavish Memorial Trophy for highest marks in Gaelic from their win in the rural ladies choir competition.

 

Back were runners-in in the Puirt-a-Beul and third in the top rural event, the Lorn Shield.  The choir was awarded the Hamish Graham Trophy and the Sandy Herron Cup for having the highest accumulated marks in Gaelic and for music across three main choral competitions.
