The winners of this year's Gaelic short film competition, FilmG, have been announced.

Judges awarded top prizes based on originality, storytelling, technical execution, and overall impact.

Comunn na Gàidhig in Harris won Best Comedy for An Guth, while Rosa O'Halloran from Lewis won Best Documentary for her independent entry, FORSAN, in the under-18s competition.

In the over-18s category, Rachel Kate MacLeod, from the Isle of Lewis, won the Best Performance award for acting in Geama, alongside Eloise McNay, who was also nominated for her performance in the -18 competition.

Lauren Smith won the FilmG Choice Award in the over 18s category, the only category decided via a public vote on the FilmG website. While Lauren is from Aberdeen, she has strong ties to Lewis, with her introspective documentary, Gàidhlig, a’ Choimhearsnachd agus Mise, an intimate exploration of her deep personal connection to the Gaelic language.

Best Drama (-18) went to Parker Dawes for Air Choire, marking another milestone for the young filmmaker, whose first commissioned film, Dà Sgadan, aired on BBC ALBA at Christmas - all while still in high school. Parker is the most successful individual winner in the history of FilmG, with this being his sixth win.

FilmG project director Murdo MacSween said: "It's inspiring to see over 500 attend the awards to help celebrate Gaelic short films, and we're excited to see what the future holds not just for the winners but also those who might be spurred on by what they saw."
