A writer from South Uist has scooped the ‘First Book of the Year’ title at the prestigious Saltire Literary Awards 2014.

 

Niall Campbell took the Award for his poetry collection ‘Moontide’, and has been acclaimed as ‘one of the most distinctive lyric voices’ to emerge from Scotland in recent years.

 

Niall’s previous literary achievements have included an Eric Gregory Award (2011), publishing the widely praised ‘After the Creel Fleet’ pamphlet (2012,) and winner of the Poetry London Competition (2013).
