An island air cadet has been appointed RAF Lossiemouth station commander’s cadet.

During his appointment Robert will be given a unique insight into the Royal Air Force and life at RAF Lossiemouth, and will accompany the station commander on a series of official engagements.

Cadet sergeant Morrison was selected by Group Captain Chappell from around 240 air cadets from the Highland wing of the Air Training Corps (ATC) for the position.

The 18-year-old is a member of 1731 (Isle of Lewis) squadron, ATC.

Robert’s overall positive attitude and the excellent standards he held within the ATC made him an outstanding candidate for the role.

His first function on taking up the appointment included a tour of the Moray air base.

During his visit to RAF Lossiemouth, one of the air force's main operating bases, Robert accompanied Group Captain Chappell on his duties around the airfield site.

He also visited 6 Squadron to see Typhoon fast jets and met the personnel who maintain and fly them.

Robert was also shown the state of the art Tornado training simulator used by the aircrew.
