Tighean Innse Gall is highlighting it is not behind a wave of cold-callers approaching islanders over energy efficiency measures.

A spokesperson for the housing agency said: “We have recently been approached by a number of householders asking if we are involved with cold calling of customers across Lewis and Harris for the purposes of installing ‘free’ heating and insulation measures.

“We would like our customers to note that it is Tighean Innse Gall’s policy not to call, unannounced, for such purposes.

“We would discourage such activity and recommend any householder approached in this manner, as a minimum check the nature of the offer as bone-fide, that the quality of work proposed will be undertaken to the relevant Publically Available Specification (PAS2030) by registered installers (e.g. OFTEC-Oil, Gas Safe-gas, NICEIC -electric, etc) and that a suitable warranty is genuinely backed with resource during the warranty period.”
