Sir,
All 56 independence obsessed SNP politicians -
Their explicit mandate is to speak up for and protect the interests of Scotland. Their electorate did not, in any way, give them a mandate to hold another referendum for independence, or even fight for one.
It is most encouraging to hear many people, who are loyal SNP supporters and who voted for their presence in London, already speaking out loudly and clearly saying they would still say ‘no’ to an independent Scotland. Simply put the Scottish people don’t want it nor hear any more about it…for at least another 50 years.
Letter: No to another independence referendum
25 May 2015
Indeed for folk with very short, and unhappy, memories, can I remind them of what happened, in Scotland, on Thursday 18 September 2014. This was the day in which Scotland voted to stay in the United Kingdom after voters decisively rejected independence.
Those who said ‘yes’ were in the minority while those who said ‘no’ were in the majority. In fact nearly 400,000 more people, including many SNP supporters, wisely and discerningly said they did not wish to break up the Union. They are already proud to be Scottish and absolutely delighted to be united.
Let all the 56 MPs now dedicate themselves to the specific, and sole, mandate given to them by the people of Scotland and that is to represent our nation’s interests for the good of everyone in it.
