Iceland opening new store in Stornoway

2 August 2017

Supermarket Iceland is opening up a new branch in Stornoway.

Renovation work is being undertaken to the former Wee W store in Cromwell Street.

The store is expected to open to customers in late October.

Between 15 to 20 jobs will be created when the shop is in full operation.

A newly-formed local company has been awarded the franchise to operate the Iceland branch which will have a full-range of convenience store services.

Newly-appointed manager Kevin Poke, who was the boss of a Stornoway supermarket until recently, said: “The Stornoway Iceland store is aiming to create a welcoming shopping experience for customers with a modern look and feel.”

He said the shop will sell a wide range of products including fresh produce and beers, wines and spirits as well as an extensive range of frozen foods.
