The Met Office warns ice will be a hazard in the Western Isles from this afternoon and into Friday.

Wintry showers brought snow to many areas this morning.

Temperatures will plummet again after sunset.

Icy patches are expected to form on untreated roads, pavements and paths.

There is a risk of slippery surfaces and difficult driving conditions.

Snow showers are expected, mainly over higher ground in the north and west of Scotland, with longer journey times possible, said forecasters.
