Alternative projects to deliver fast broadband to Hushinish are being investigated
after the area was missed out in the fibre optic roll-
Development agency HIE, which is running the Digital Highlands and Islands initiative, says there were never any plans to lay a broadband cable overland to the North Harris district.

A HIE spokesperson said: “There are areas we can’t reach with the current roll-
“There was a proposal some time ago suggesting laying fibre with the Hushinish pipe, but it was not a viable option for the project.”
Scottih Water said there was no plan to lay a fibre optic cable as part of its Hushinish upgrade.
