Weather alert for Western Isles 11/8/14
A belated yellow weather alert has been issued for the Western Isles.
The tail end of Hurricane Bertha unexpectedly veered towards the Western Isles bringing torrential downpours and localised flooding in places overnight.
In the northern half of the islands, conditions passed after noon though heavy weather continues in the Uists.
The Met Office altered its warnings to included the Western Isles.
Forecasters say more persistent heavy rain will be affecting parts of Highland along with Skye and the Outer Hebrides.
The rain will also be accompanied by unseasonably strong winds in places, according to the Met Office.
