Sir,

On reading Angus MacCormack's letter (4th April), I could not help recalling the words of Ed Milliband in the recent TV debate when he said "There you go again, always talking about the past. I want to talk about the future."

We all know that the oil price will go up again, and the question is "who will benefit when it does." Will it be the oil companies, the bankers, the hedge funds in the City of London? Or will it be ordinary people who suffered the brunt of the slash-and-burn austerity policies of the Tory government supported by Labour.

The SNP is hoping for a hung parliament where Ed Milliband will be Prime Minister, supported by 59 SNP MPs who will support him on an issue-by-issue basis.

This will ensure that Labour returns to its core beliefs last seen when John Smith was leader.
