Contracts worth over £14 million to upgrade social housing in the Western Isles have been announced.
Nine local contractors will receive a share of the improvements works to Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) homes over the next four years.
HHP said it includes installing 689 new heating systems, 397 kitchens and 283 bathrooms.
In addition, 74 houses will get new windows,
65 properties will be reroofed. Roughcasting
to 83 homes is also planned.
HHP’s Chair David Blaney said ‘I am delighted to be able to confirm this major investment and I am particularly pleased that this will be delivered by local contractors.
“This not only benefits tenants but supports a large number of local jobs and greatly benefits the local economy and wider community.”
HHP has spent £15 million on improving houses in the past four years.
