Two islanders have appeared in court accused of housebreaking.

It is alleged Alister Macaulay and Ian Macaulay broke into a residential property in Stornoway last month and stole a number of items.

Neither made a plea at a brief hearing in private at Stornoway Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon.

No application for bail was made.

The pair, both of Druim nan Curracag, Callanish, were remanded in custody.
