Insulating island homes             22/12/11

Local housing agency Tighean Innse Gall has been appointed as the lead contractor for delivering the Universal Home Insulation Scheme on the islands.

The Scottish Government initiative is designed to provide energy efficiency measures to households across the islands.

The Comhairle was successful in bidding for £350,000 from the Scottish Government to implement the scheme, which will see a range of measures including roof and cavity wall insulation, draught-proofing and boiler replacement vouchers, being made available to qualifying householders. The Comhairle is also contributing £50,000.
