Hollywood theme for charity fundraiser       27/10/14

A new island charity set up to promote awareness of organ donation is holding its first major fundraising event this week.

The Isle Save a Life group aims to raise money for the Western Isles Kidney Patient and the British Heart Foundation.

On Saturday, an Old Hollywood theme buffet and dance night is taking place in the Caberfeidh Hotel where people can dress up as their favourite movie star.

Comedians with Carina MacLeod and Anna Yaya Devitt are hostesses running the show

Prizes for a special draw on the night include a Steven Gerrard signed training top, Rangers FC signed football shirt, two return mainland plane tickets, supermarket vouchers, ferry travel and beauty salon vouchers.

The campaign was set up this year by Lewis woman Chrisanna Macdonald - who desperately needs a second kidney transplant - with the support of her friends.

Already, they have made £800 through bag packing at local supermarkets and have a list of more ideas to raise cash for the charities.
