A Stornoway woman who was a nuisance to emergency staff has been penalised £1020.

Dorothy  Macritchie of Murdoch Place, Stornoway, called 999 for an ambulance three times in March when there was no medical emergency.

The 70-year-old obstructed ambulance personnel by spreading herself over the vehicle's bonnet, preventing them from leaving her street.

She also breached a bail ban not to drink alcohol and by refusing to give police officers a breath test.

Macritchie was previously given a two year community payback order with 120 hours of unpaid community service work after pleading guilty to the offences.

At Stornoway Sheriff Court, the sentence was altered to a £900 fine - £300 for each charge. She was also instructed to pay £120 compensation to the ambulance service.
