A Western Isles man accused of a serious sexual allegation has appeared at Glasgow High Court.

 

Paul Simmonds of Stornoway, denied carrying out a sexual assault with intent to rape a woman.

 

It is alleged he placed a knife against her throat during an incident in Lewis last September.

 

He is also charged with allegedly acting in a threatening or abusive behaviour

 

The 40-year-old entered a not guilty plea to all the accusations at a preliminary hearing today.

 

He faces trial by jury at the High Court in Edinburgh.
