More than 120 endurance athletes and volunteer staff are involved in a new adventure challenge race in the Western Isles.

The two-day, adventure race through Benbecula and Uist kicks off on Saturday.

The Heb is a 120 mile multi-sport challenge involving mountain biking, off-road over moorland and machair terrain as well as kayaking across lochs.

Organiser, Paul McGreal, said: “The Heb - Race on the Edge is a stunning and achievable journey through the best of the Hebrides, the ultimate outdoor playground.

"With seasoned multi-sport athletes competing alongside relative newcomers to the world of adventure sport we have planned a challenging and demanding route without it being intimidating."
