50th anniversary for Harris Voluntary Service

IIsles SP, Alasdair Allan, has congratulated Harris Voluntary Service on 50 years of service to the people of the island.

The anniversary was marked by an open day in Tarbert Community Centre.

Alasdair Allan commented: “Harris Voluntary Service has contributed a phenomenal amount to the community life of the Isle of Harris over the last half-century.

“Not only have they provided help directly to many people in this fragile island community, but they have actively campaigned for improvements to public services over the years.”

He added: “Individuals such as Morag Munro, Katie MacLeod, and Gillian Scott-Forrest among many others have a record to be proud of in this organisation and it was good to see that being celebrated at this event.”
