MSP raises concerns over redundancies            12/6/14

Isles SNP MSP Alasdair Allan has raised concerns over the Tarbert job cuts with Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Enterprise Minister, Fergus Ewing.

Mr Allan said he wanted a “clearer picture of what is being proposed for the people working in Tarbert, and in particular what support can now be offered to them.

“It goes without saying that Harris is one of the most economically fragile communities in Scotland, and the loss of jobs would represent a severe blow.

“With this in mind I have asked the enterprise minister whether there is anything that can be done both for individual employees and to work with the company in the hope of securing jobs at this location in future.”

The back-office administration of the GSH group is run from Tarbert which is also the company’s fall-back disaster recovery base which would keep the firm running if its computer network systems failed.
