Portnaguran harbour in Point, Lewis, has received a major upgrade.

An extension to the slipway reduces its angle, making it far easier to launch boats.

The work was done in conjunction with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, which improved the surface of the pier and also replaced the ladders.

The pier and former lighthouse store has been painted

Rock armour has been placed around the stream to try and prevent it being clogged up with debris.

A picnic area has also been created.

Community wind farm charity Point and Sandwick Trust awarded £7000, the bulk of the money, towards the improvements.

The Scottish Landfill Fund provided £5000 while Scottish Natural Heritage and other bodies also contributed.
