Harbour board headhunts old hands

15 January 2015

Stornoway Port Authority has called in its former chief executive to take over the role again.

John J Maclennan is to act as the harbour boss until a permanent chief executive is appointed.

The post came vacant following the departure of Jane Maciver who left “by mutual consent” after over four years at the port.

John Maclennan was employed by the port authority for 27 years from 1983. He served as chief executive from 1996 until his retirement in 2010.

The port authority says he brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Meanwhile, Captain Roddy Jardine from Barra joins the port authority as assistant harbourmaster.

He is expected to take over the harbour master’s role for a temporary period when Capt Peter Read leaves next month.
