Improving facilities for visiting yachts and harbour users in Stornoway will take a step closer if planning permission for a new laundrette is approved.

Stornoway Port Authority has applied to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to approve the change of use of a current storage building on the Cromwell Street Quay to transform it into an office and laundrette facility.

The laundrette would be 24 hour operational and would employ one person.

Permission is being sought to replace the building’s present roof; and also to install a total of six public seating benches – four on the Cromwell Street Quay and two on Esplanade Quay.
