Staff at the Stornoway hydro shop have raised £1,205 for charity after holding a fundraising “coffee, cake and chatter” week.

Workers (pictured above) donned colourful wigs for the event and the Lynne Maclean Highland dancers provided entertainment.

The staff is donating the cash raised to CLIC Sargent which is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families.

The body provides clinical, practical and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.

One of the organisers, Gayle Taylor, said: "We had a fantastic week with a lot of people coming in to support us and to enjoy a cuppa.

"We had a massive prize draw with 25 prizes so everyone that entered was in with a great chance.

"Our highlight was when we got our final total. £1205 is a huge amount of money for this charity and it will be put to great use.

"I am so happy and overwhelmed by the amount of support we received not only from local businesses but from the general public some of whom just came in to donate."
