The freak hailstone storm which affected the Ness area of Lewis damaged windows and garage roofs.

 

Hailstones punched large holes through the roof of a garage belonging to Robert and Nancy Davidson (pictured above) in Swainbost.

 

Perspex panels on the garage, neighbouring their home, need to be replaced.

The hail stones - described as being the size of marbles - rained down in a heavy torrent late on Thursday night.

 

Hailshowers  continued through Friday in advance of high winds and a Force 8 to 9 gale.
