The Stornoway Trust requires a dedicated enthusiastic person to supervise a small team managing 400 ha of multi-purpose forestry including the Lews Castle Grounds.

Reporting directly to the Estate Factor the post holder's responsibility will include the following:

Overall maintenance of Lews Castle Grounds to an agreed specification and standard
Training of all staff to ensure Grounds are maintained
Day to day management of the Grounds team
Day to day management of the Stornoway Trust’s Joinery and Sawmill Unit
Reporting of progress against an agreed work plan
Staff appraisals
Identification of projects and initiatives to be taken forward with the approval of the Board of Trustees
Delivery of public facing activities
Identification of discrete projects that could be taken to external funders
Planning and scheduling maintenance and income generating activities
General Sawmill and Grounds Maintenance activities as necessary

The successful applicant will need to be an experienced hands-on suitably qualified person willing to contribute and oversee all aspects of a team entrusted with the day to day maintenance of the estate.

The post is for an initial twelve month period and the starting salary will be in the region of £25k depending on experience.
