This year’s coveted An Comunn Gold Medals at the Royal National Mòd has been won by Alasdair MacMhuirich from Islay and Rachel Walker from Spean Bridge.

 

21-year-old Alasdair also won the Caledonian MacBrayne Trophy plus the John MacArthur Memorial Trophy in the qualifiying round. He recently graduated with a Gaelic degree from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. In 2015 he won the Silver Pendant event at the Oban Mod.

 

Rachel - a regular Mod competitor - was also awarded the Innis MacLeod Trophy - for the highest aggregate marks in qualifying events.
