Huge air bags looking like giant pumpkins played an important role in the transfer of the Transocean Winner oil rig onto the heavy lift ship.

Inflated airbags provided vital buoyancy and helped reduce the rig's draft so it would not get stuck while floating onto the Hawk.

They were dotted around the rig's waterline.

Nearly 30 tanks were holed and flooded with seawater so replacement buoyancy was required.

"Giant pumpkins" give rig an extra lift
