In favour of gay marriage 4/1/12
Sirs,
I don't usually write to newspapers, either online or print, but after
the last
email to your publication on the subject of gay marriage, I
felt that I couldn't let
what I had read pass without comment.
The recent letters from Donald Morrison was one of the most hateful,
self-
in a long while. I thought
that kind of intolerant bigotry had died
out a long time ago. It seems I was wrong.
Quite why how two adults should choose to live their lives should
cause such torrents
of revulsion is beyond me, and how the joyous
occasion of two human beings proclaiming
their love for each other in
public could cause everything (or so it seems from Mr
Morrison's
letter) from economic collapse in Scotland to paedophilia is one of
the
most unintentionally humorous bursts of preposterous illogical
thinking I've ever
come across.
I assume that since Mr Morrison validates his opinions by recourse to
the Christian
Bible, he also believes firmly that the Scottish Government should not stop at simply
disallowing homosexual marriage, but should reinstate the death penalty for them,
as after all, this is the punishment called for in Leviticus.
Likewise, I look forward to the lively debates on the bills which should surely be brought forward on the suitable punishments for wizards, blasphemers, those who curse their parents and the other hilariously irrational lists of things that offend God in that same book of the Bible.
