A gale warning for Sunday has been issued for the Western Isles area.
The Met Office said a deep area of low pressure is moving northeastwards across Scotland on Saturday night, bringing a period of gales across all parts, with storms in the north.
In addition to strong westerly winds, large waves will affect sea fronts particularly off the west coast of the Hebrides.
Rain and a strengthening wind will affect the islands in advance of the gale.
South Uist and Barra are forecast to get the worst of the bad weather.
Many island ferry services are expected to be affected.
