Hebrides News

Strong winds and gales are forecast to affect the Western Isles until Tuesday evening.

Southerly winds are set to strengthen tomorrow.

Strong gusts will be experienced in all island locations as Sunday progresses.

Conditions may ramp up a notch on Monday with 50 to 60mph winds likely in places.

The bad weather is caused by a deep low pressure system in the mid-Atlantic heading towards the north of Scotland.

Its advance front will arrive on Sunday. The bad weather will continue with the slow moving centre due to pass over the Hebrides on Tuesday.

Initially, winds will blow from a south easterly direction but will change to come from the west over the period.

High seas will also affect the coastline. Ferry services are likely to face disruptions.
