A strong south easterly gale is forecast to affect the Western Isles overnight.
Conditions are likely to touch storm force in Uist and Barra in the early hours of Thursday.
Though wind speeds should ease by daylight, a heavy swell may continue to affect the Minch particularly off Barra and South Uist.
