A strong northerly wind is forecast to bring chilly conditions to the Western Isles over the coming days.

Gale force winds and wintry or sleet showers are expected up to Tuesday evening.

Some island ferry services may be affected.

Unseasonably low temperatures will be caused by a cold weather front sweeping southwards across the UK.

Islanders travelling to Ullapool or Skye ferry ports on Monday morning risk being affected by snow on higher roads. The Met Office has issued a weather warning for the Highlands and Grampian.
