A run of gales and strong winds is forecast to affect the Western Isles over the coming days.

The Southern Isles are set to get the brunt of the high winds from Thursday.

There, windy conditions may ease slightly over the Thursday but strengthen again at night.

Rough seas and swell conditions may affect ferries for Uist and Barra.

Gale force winds are forecast to affect all islands on Friday, particularly Harris and the Southern Isles, with the strongest gusts - accompanied by heavy rain - in the morning.

Though wind speeds are expected to decline on Saturday, high waves and an adverse swell are likely to continue to be experienced in the southern Minch.

Gale force conditions are expected to return for Sunday and Monday.

Air temperatures will rise to around 7-10° though it will feel colder in the wind.
