A gale warning has been issued for the Hebrides area for Friday.
The Met Office said a deep area of low pressure near Iceland and a large high pressure area to the west of Iberia will maintain a strong run of westerly winds for the next couple of days.
Wind speeds are expected to be between 30 to under 40mph in South Uist and Barra on Thursday.
This will increase to a gale later. The Force 8 to 9 conditions may see gusts over 50mph and up to 68mph in the Uists, accompanied by wintry showers.
