A South Uist poetess is one of the winners of this year’s Gaelic New Writers’ Awards.


Marion F Morrison, who originally hails from Barra, has been announced as a recipient of this year’s skills’ development scheme run by The Gaelic Books Council and Scottish Book Trust.


The programme includes mentoring, manuscript appraisal, professional development workshops, and a retreat at the Moniack Mhòr Creative Writing Centre near Inverness.


There is also the opportunity to perform her work at a showcase event in Edinburgh.
