An island woman has been headhunted as the acting head teacher of Inverness Gaelic School.

Annie MacPhee, a fluent Gaelic speaker from Coll, Lewis, has been seconded from her current post as support for learning teacher at Glenurquhart and Beauly Primaries.  

She will run the primary until June 2015.

Highland Council has experienced difficulties in filling the vacancy on a permanent basis.

Mrs MacPhee formerly taught at Lochboisdale School. She has extensive experience of teaching in both Gaelic and English medium.

She was formerly the acting head of Glenurquhart Primary School.
