A new Gaelic poetry competition is being introduced on Skye.

The annual “Macdonald of Sleat’ poetry prize was set up by Sir Ian Macdonald in memory of his daughter, Deborah, who died last year.

The event will be run by Gaelic college, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

Poems with a theme about trees will be sought. This year, the best contribution about a half-grown tree will win £500.
