The Gaelic learner of the year award has been presented to an Italian enthusiastic for the language by Prince Charles at the Royal National Mòd today.

The award acknowledges a Gaelic learner who has made significant steps to becoming fluent.

Carmine Colajezzi moved to Scotland five years ago where he first heard Gaelic after a cycling tour of the Western Isles.

The 30-year-old then moved to Skye where he enrolled Gaelic college Sabhal Mòr Ostaig to further his language skills.
