Inverness will host the Royal National Mòd in 2020 it has been announced.
The Mòd takes place in Lochaber next year and in Dunoon the following autumn.
The nine day event is scheduled for Glasgow in 2019 and the Highland capital the year after.
The Western Isles hopes to host the Mòd every five years or so and is expected to compete with other rivals for the 2021 date.
