The Friday afternoon ferry from Oban to Castlebay and Lochboisdale has been brought forward due to forecast rough seas and strong winds.

Weather permitting, the MV Lord of the Isles will depart at 7am for a 12.10pm arrival at Barra and hopes to head to South Uist after a fast turnaround.

However, Cal Mac says berthing in Lochboisdale is looking doubtful due to the forecast conditions.

Uist passengers advised to consider using the Uig - Lochmaddy service as an alternative if possible.

If the ferry cannot get into Lochboisdale then the following day's South Uist to Mallaig sailings will be cancelled.
