Second breakdown for French trawler       7/3/11

A French trawler has broken down twice in two days off Lewis.

Stornoway RNLI lifeboat towed the FV Symphonie into Stornoway harbour for the second day in a row.

The 23-metre long fishing vessel has been fishing for monkfish in the Minch in recent days.

On Friday the lifeboat carried out a seven-hour mission to pull her to safety after she lost engine power four miles off the Butt.

On Saturday, after repairs in Stornoway she headed back to sea but soon broken down again off Point.

The lifeboat crew were called out about 6pm for a lengthy rescue and secured a line on the vessel as she drifted about five miles off Tuimpan Head.

The tow docked in Stornoway about midnight on Saturday.

Stornoway Coastguard say engineers are due to arrive today to carry out an inspection and facilitate repairs.
