The MV Loch Seaforth has cancelled her overnight freight run between Stornoway and Ullapool.

Strong gusts and a heavy swell running down the Minch is hampering the ferry service.

The MV Loch Seaforth's 10.30am sailing from Ullapool and the lunchtime departure from Stornoway were cancelled due to a heavy northerly sea.

The 5.30pm sailing from Ullapool will now go ahead but the vessel will then remain in Stornoway until Wednesday said Cal Mac.

Meanwhile the MV Lord of the Isles has diverted to Oban. There will be no sailings between Lochboisdale and Mallaig for the second day running.

Forecasts indicates 45 knot gusts from the north building a swell of five metres straight down the Minch.
