Part of the main ring road round Barra is closed after heavy flooding in the area.
A section of the A888, some 100 metres west of Northbay junction, will be shut to traffic for some time said police.
It means people travelling to the airport or the Ardmhòr ferry have to detour round the east coast of the island.
Police Scotland said a number of roads in Uist and Barra are still affected by water. Motorists should drive with care and not attempt to drive flooded areas.
