A fishing boat has been badly holed after running aground off North Uist.

The local creel vessel with two crew aboard hit a reef and took on water near Vallay Island around 8am on Thursday.

A spokeswoman for Stornoway Coastguard said the boat was later taken to nearby Griminish pier.

The flooded vessel was pumped out with assistance of Leverburgh RNLI lifeboat and Benbecula fire crews.
