Fisherman who died is named 16/5/14

Fisherman who died after falling overboard his creel boat, MFV Banacle, has been named as Gary Daniel Forbes. The boat is registered in Castlebay but is based in Aultbea.

The 36-year-old from Aultbea was flown to the Western Isles Hospital after landing in the water while working creels near Tanera Beag, off the Summer Isles on Tuesday.

Island trawlers were among the several vessels which responded to the incident. T

The Stornoway ferry, MV Isle of Lewis, also offered her assistance.

The fisherman was hauled back onboard by his workmate and airlifted to Stornoway by the coastguard rescue helicopter.

Police enquires are currently ongoing with assistance from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch and coastguards.
