A fisherman was caught drink driving while heading to a maritime emergency.
Lewis man Christopher Maclean was twice the legal limit when police stopped him at Willowglen on the outskirts of Stornoway at 9.45pm on 23 November.
The 54-
Lawyer Angus Macdonald told Stornoway Sheriff Court his client had been drinking at home after been given a couple of days off by his skipper.
He had no intention of leaving the house but then received an urgent call that he was needed back as his trawler was heading back to sea to give another vessel a tow to harbour.
The solicitor said: “It was a number of hours since his last drink. He just took the chance he would be fine.”
Sheriff David Sutherland banned him from driving for 12 months and fined him £400.
