First two ballot boxes go for No      19/9/14

An hour into the Western Isles count in the decision of Scotland’s independence and the final box of postal votes was opened at 11pm.

Already two ballot boxes from the Stornoway area have been counted with results believed to be standing two to the No campaign with an average 60/40% split.

Undeterred, SNP MP Angus MacNeil commented saying that it was ‘going in the patterns’ of previous counts but added: “Every vote counts.”

He said that the great tragedy of a loss would be because half the country wants independence and the other half left in fear by ‘government scare tactics’.
